Residents Veterans Memorial

Want something accomplished? Just ask the right person. In this case, Don McDonald. Resident Bill Coleman purchased and installed a flag pole with an American flag by the pool to honor his late son, Jeff Coleman, who was a proud Marine but passed away with Covid. However, after replacing the flag pole twice, his friend, Don McDonald, decided Crescent Run should have a Veterans Memorial to honor our military because without them, we would not be where we are today.

Don talked to Larry Wilwerding, an avid vet, and after visiting other 55+ communities, they designed and planned a memorial for Crescent Run with the Manager Heather Gevedon’s approval. And so it began, early October 2025. Don and Larry presented their plan to the residents and asked for donations $$. CR Residents stepped up and the donations were plentiful!! Ground was broken early November and after a few days, the patio and walls were in place. Amazing!! Resident Larry Wilwerding donated a kneeling soldier then eagles, flags, crosses, and signs arrived. Wow! Then plans for a Veterans Memorial dedication March 10, 2026. Even now, donations keep coming in for yearly maintenance. As residents, we are very proud!

Crescent Run community residents Deb and Buzz Metz were recognized by the CBS3/5 News “Pay It Forward” program for doing all they can to make their neighborhood a great place to live.
